Camp Schedule and Info

Camp schedules will be posted in March 2012.

Learning Camps: for New Fencers

Do your children like the sword fights in movies? Do they have more fun swinging the cardboard tubes from the Christmas wrapping paper than they do opening their presents?

Presidio Fencing Club will be holding youth day camps to introduce your boys and girls to the sport of fencing in a fun-filled environment. We will play games to develop coordination and self-confidence while learning the ins and outs of one of the oldest events in the modern Olympic Games. On the final day of the camp, we will hold a tournament.

Students who have not fenced since last summer should consider taking another of these camps as we will be introducing new material and games.

Campers must wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes as they will spend a good portion of each day exercising. They should also bring a water bottle and a lunch. All fencing equipment will be provided. Space is limited to twelve people only.

Training Camps: for Beginning to Intermediate Fencers

These camps are for fencers who want to work on their technical and bouting skills. Participants must already have some basic fencing experience. Time will be spent each day sparring and rehearsing technique in groups and privately with a coach. Each camper will work towards achieving individualized goals set at the beginning of the week. This is an ideal camp for children currently enrolled in our Youth and Cadet classes, as well as for those who already took a "Learning" camp.

Conditioning Camp: for Competitive Athletes

This camp is for competitive fencers aged 13-16 who want to get in shape for the upcoming season. We will spend ample time on strength training, drilling, and sparring. All campers will receive multiple private lessons in an intensive week meant to shake off the rust from the off-season. Campers must own their own electrical equipment. Consider this a pre-season training for our Cadet and Junior classes.
